Patricia Foster RN is the Bariatric Program Coordinator at Westchester Medical Center. She received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing Cum Laude from Adelphi University in Garden City, NY.
Previous to coming to WMC, she was the Bariatric Program Coordinator at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY and most recently the Bariatric Program Coordinator at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in the Philadelphia area. Pat is a Certified Bariatric Nurse and member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. She has served as an external reviewer for the Pennsylvania Patient Safety Authority, and Legal Nurse Consultant/Expert Witness on litigation cases.
She is a dedicated advocate for the morbidly obese patient, as she herself is a successful bariatric patient. Pat feels that having the opportunity to be a part of the patient’s journey is a way of “paying it forward” for the life-saving “gift” of her Gastric Bypass in 2002. Pat serves as the liaison between the hospital and surgical practice. Along with the other health care professionals on the team, she facilitates support groups & educational seminars and is involved with the pre-op classes that prepare patients for upcoming surgery. Pat visits the patients in the hospital after surgery, and is always available for assistance by phone and e-mail.
